next election separate the ballot issues. We dont need an omnibus tax plan. if the taxes were clear and concise in their purpose, and they had a sunset clause, a lot of people would have voted yes.
If we are going to foot the bill for a special election to recall rivera and smalls, why not try to squueze a save the city bus issue or a save the parks and recs issue on the same ballot? signatures would need to be gathered.

Right on! The reason why I voted against the property tax increase was because it was written as a blank check for the people who lack vision and have already mismanaged resources to do what they see fit with... not because I don't care about my community.
ReplyDeleteThe proponents of the property tax increase reasoned that since the city was in such dire straights financially, we might as well throw money at the problem and trust our leaders. Yes, there were posts on Facebook which actually said that.
We need a city council with vision and one that not has been bankrolled with donations from developers. We need an informed electorate to remind elected officials that power is derived from the consent of the governed.
And who's going to run against Rivera and Smalls in the next election and several of the other bad members of the city council? Without new candidates, we're stuck with recurring problems.
